The Face of Death

Description

I thought I'd try to give Ice's assassin a face. I'm quite pleased with how he came out.

This scene takes place here. [link]
The jilted lover "Death" is speaking to is Kieran. Which you already know if you've been following Ice.

The fabric was fun, as was coming up with a design for Harbringer. But trying to draw an expression that conveys "insane killer who is feeling smug and confident, but also in the guise of an innocent priest" was super hard. Seriously, I think I tried about seven times to get that right. And then I got it, and then it got smudged, so I had to try again... but I digress.

Yaaaay, assassin!

I had no idea using the word "digress" properly was such a challenge. But, that's beside the point. Anyhow, it looks like your persistence paid off in this pic. The way you drew the Assassin's robes, they way they fold and shift with his motions, as well as the sleeves and emblem, are very well done. I also have to hand it to you on the staff's design. That G curve was a detail I hadn't considered, but you handled it very well. With my eyesight, I had to zoom in to see it, but the face also came out well. He certainly has that smug look about him. I'm wondering if that lopsided grin conveys the whole insane killer bit though. This might be attributable to the TV villains I cut my milk teeth on, but I always found those ear-to-ear grins lent themselves better to a villain's face. That's just my opinion though. On a side note, the link to the chapter where this occurs, and the largely spoiler-free description, rounds things out nicely. I'm running out of steam here, so I'll have to save the rest, and my questions regarding Ice, for tomorrow. Thanks for telling me about this, and I look forward to our discussion.
